January 2025
Every January Sir John Soane's Museum closes to the public for a week of conservation work, and 2025 was no exception. Their amazing conservators used this time to focus their talents on caring for the Monk’s Parlour and they have welcomed the redisplay of nine artefacts: see if you can spot them next time you visit!

Throughout December and January there were also some exciting developments in their historic Kitchens. There are now a range of Georgian artefacts, some of which belonged to Sir John Soane and were used by his staff, on display in the Front and Back Kitchens.

The museums knowledgeable volunteers are ready to interpret the space for all of their visitors during the standard opening hours, as well as at their Soane Lates which take place on the last Friday of every month. Tickets for the February Soane Late: Make It New! are available for purchase on their website now.
In January they will bid farewell to their current exhibition Lina Iris Viktor: Mythic Time / Tens of Thousands of Rememberings, to make way for Soane and Modernism: Make It New. This new exhibition will investigate the assertion that Soane was the first modernist architect by placing drawings from Soane’s collection in dialogue with work by architects such as Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernő Goldfinger.
