Guildhall Events awarded Gold Green Meetings Accreditation

Guildhall Events are thrilled to have been awarded a Gold Award from Green Meetings.  This formally recognises Guildhall’s sustainable and responsible practices from a globally recognised scheme as an indicator of strong environmentally-friendly practices and as a hallmark of ‘green quality’.

Having been awarded a Silver Award in 2022 the Guildhall Commercial Events team worked on recommendations provided by Green Meetings to enhance their work in these areas.  These recommendations, along with other City Corporation work and developments, have been recognised with the promotion of the Silver Award to a Gold Award.  The certification provides confidence to buyers, nationally and internationally, of Guildhall’s credentials and conveys their commitment to sustainable, responsible and ethical business practices.

In assessing Guildhall’s application on sustainable and responsible business practices a Green Tourism sustainability expert, qualified to IEMA standards, commented that Guildhall showed ‘Excellent knowledge and awareness of all aspects of sustainability on show throughout’ and that 'their genuine pleasure in running and promoting a sustainable business in the area where they operate is evident.' It was also highlighted that Guildhall submitted 'an excellent assessment demonstrating the ability for a business to operate in a sustainable way is not restrained by being in an older building.' They also noted that on Equality, Diversity, & Inclusivity, where Guildhall scored 98%, Guildhall displayed ‘Excellent commitment to ensuring the Guildhall is welcoming and accessible to all.'

Founded in 1997, Green Tourism is the most popularly adopted sustainability standard, with 2500+ members worldwide.  In 2021 Green Tourism launched the Green Meetings Standard following strong demand for a meetings sector-specific sustainability accreditation. It has since become the label of choice for over 700 leading meetings and events venues.
