The exhibition explores the hidden world of mudlarks – individuals who search the exposed banks of the River Thames at low tide for artefacts from London’s past. More than 350 objects are on display, many for the first time, ranging from personal belongings to historical relics spanning several centuries.
Guests enjoying a private viewing of the exhibition will be able to step into the shoes of a mudlark, exploring the Thames foreshore through a blend of archaeology, contemporary art, and digital experiences. The exhibition also offers a contemplative space dedicated to the moon and tidal rhythms that make mudlarking possible.
The ‘Secret of the Thames’ package starts from £30pp and includes a private viewing of the exhibition and specially curated menu in collaboration with Bovingdons Catering. Clients can choose from canapes including charcoal buns filled with lobster and herb butter, Scallop in shell with onion foam and savoury crumb and crab on lotus root crisp with sour cream, with a glass of fizz also provided for each guest.
