The famous J.P. Morgan Media Centre at Lord’s Cricket Ground will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2024. After opening in April 1999, in the lead up to the 1999 Cricket World Cup (of which the final was held at Lord’s), the J.P. Morgan Media Centre has established itself as one of the most unique and famous buildings in cricket, and perhaps sport in general.
Its futuristic design provides an interesting juxtaposition between new and old at Lord’s, with the historic Grade-II* listed Pavilion situated at the opposing end of the Ground.
The unusual structure of the J.P. Morgan Media Centre meant that the architects decided it would be easier to assemble in a shipyard, rather than construct on site at Lord’s.
As well as hosting members of the media on matchdays, the J.P. Morgan Media Centre hosts numerous school visits throughout the year, and is also one of the event venues at Lord’s.
