The Jolly Postman Exhibition at The Postal Museum

May 2026

Step back into childhood imagination at The Postal Museum with the charming new exhibition, The Jolly Postman. Until January 2027, you can now experience the magic of the beloved books written and illustrated by Janet and Alan Alberg. This immersive exhibition celebrates 40 years of the children’s book, taking you through the Jolly Postman’s adventure visiting the homes of characters such as Cinderella and the Wicked Witch.

Visitors are invited to follow the storybook journey of the Jolly Postman as he delivers letters to famous fairytale characters. Along the way, you’ll encounter the homes of the Three Bears, the Giant and more, brought to life through interactive displays.

The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to view original artwork from the Ahlberg’s for the very first time, alongside insights into their inspiration drawn from family life. Rich in colour, nostalgia, and playfulness, it’s an experience designed to delight both children and adults alike, whether you’re revisiting a childhood favourite or discovering it for the first time.

This exhibition is on display at the museum with access included in standard tickets and is also available for private viewings during your next event. Within a venue that combines historical charm and interactive storytelling, this exhibition delivers something truly special for all guests.
