Unique By Design: Transforming {10-11} Carlton House Terrace

June 2025

The transformation of the lower ground floor into exciting new event spaces at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace has been led by leading architectural firm Wright & Wright. The firm was chosen for its expertise in the design of educational and cultural institutions. The scheme centred on the addition of the latest hybrid event technology, allowing for worldwide & agile hosts and audiences to experience the grandeur & quality of events at {10-11} Carlton House Terrace.

This renovation marks the most significant changes to the venue since its opening 120 years ago in 1902. The £9 million development has been made possible, in part, by a generous £5 million grant from the Wolfson Foundation. The once traditional corridors and rooms on the lower floors have been transformed into three double-height, double glazed event spaces, equipped to handle a wide variety of events including conferences, lectures, workshops, festivals, and performances.

The SHAPE Room, Wohl Gallery and the Lecture Room have been thoughtfully designed and constructed to give organisers cutting edge, contemporary facilities in a Grade I listed setting. As well as being sympathetically designed with the venues Georgian roots in mind, the spaces’ low energy heating system is entirely carbon-free in keeping with the venues business’ commitment to sustainability.

They look forward to welcoming guests in their new and improved spaces, where the past and future come together to create extraordinary experiences.
