Home to the City of London Corporation and still the centre of government in the City of London, the impressive interiors of this Grade I-listed landmark provide the perfect setting for a memorable occasion across eleven versatile spaces.
Guildhall has been central to the City’s development since the Romans founded Londinium 2,000 years ago. Originally the site of London’s amphitheatre Guildhall was home to the City Corporation and hub of City life by the Middle Ages - an era when the Lord Mayor of London rivalled the monarch for influence and prestige. Throughout the ages Guildhall has remained central in the development of London. The Lord Mayor, an elected position held on an annual basis, acts as an international ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional services sector.
The wealth of history, heritage and prestige is evident across Guildhall’s event spaces. Each space represents a different period of time in the history of Guildhall; from the 2,000 year old Roman Amphitheatre which signals the start of this area becoming central to civic life, the Crypts dating back to the 14th century, and to the Great Hall built in 1411. Guildhall’s Art Gallery offers a reflective and educational experience, with the Old Library, Print Room and Chief Commoner’s Parlour celebrating the introduction of the printing press to London.
Guildhall beautifully brings together the history and heritage of the City of London and invites guests to create memorable experiences and to connect with other people through the enjoyment and power of commercial events.
Guildhall Events are thrilled to have been awarded a Gold Award from Green Meetings. This formally recognises Guildhall’s sustainable and responsible practices from a globally recognised scheme as an indicator of strong environmentally-friendly practices and as a hallmark of ‘green quality’.
