In response to the Meeting Mohini exhibition, the Horniman Museum & Gardens invite you to an evening in the Horniman Gardens celebrating South Asian queer and trans culture, with community and allies.

Connect with Horniman’s Gardens and immerse yourself in the power of nature to support our well being, health and happiness. You can expect music, food, workshops and celebration!

It’s a free event but booking tickets is advised.

Dance the evening away with the South Asian award-winning icon DJ Ritu (she/her), as she spins world music tunes to make you move.

Fall in love with the dance of Dosa Cat (they/he), as they guide you through a story of romance and androgyny.

Nature Walk with Jazmeen Isa Qureshi and Errol Reuben Fernandes

Walk the sunken garden with Jazmeen Isa Qureshi (they/she) and Errol Reuben Fernandes (he/him) (Head of Horticulture at Horniman Museum and Gardens) to learn more about the queer and trans nature we have around us.

Exploring Beauty Workshop with Swagatham

Sign up on the day to this 90 minute workshop with this renowned South Indian and Sri Lankan LGBTQ+ group Swagatham, to learn more about Mohini’s history, working with materials and participating in talks.

Garland Making Workshop

Adorn yourself with garlands from this workshop with Sharan Dhaliwal (she/they) and the Horniman team, and become part of gardens around you.

Affirmation Workshop with Sabah Choudhury

Join Sabah Choudrey (they/he) in a drop-in workshop to create your own affirmation cards, using flowers and inspiration from the gardens around you.

Exhibition Tour with Navjot Mangat (Horniman Senior Curator of Social Practice)

Join us to explore the stories behind the photographs in a tour of Meeting Mohini: Koovagam through the lens of Zoya Thomas Lobo, our inspiration for this Late. Led by exhibition curator, Navjot Mangat.
