One of the jewels of the Historic Royal Palaces crown, there are few venues more historic than the last surviving part of the original Whitehall Palace: Banqueting House.

Specially created for entertaining in 1622, the Banqueting House 'party palace' astounded London society, and it still has the power to dazzle and impress today. Designed by Inigo Jones for James I, the building was built in the Palladian style and is one of England's earliest classical buildings, the 'crown jewel' being the Peter Paul Ruben's ceiling in the Main Hall.

The stunning history of Banqueting House continues to this day following recent improvement works focusing on sustainability and accessibility. But perhaps the most noticeable features of the improvement work is the breathtaking new English oak floor that has been installed in the Main Hall. Sustainably sourced and more in-keeping in style with the original floor from the reign of James I, this beautiful new feature provides the perfect compliment to the iconic Rubens Ceiling in the Main Hall. These two features combine for an incredible backdrop for events, immersing guests in the history and beauty of this unique space.
