Organised in collaboration with la Cinémathèque française, the exhibition will feature over 600 original objects, many never before seen in the UK. Highlights include a three-metre-wide model of The Grand Budapest Hotel, stop-motion puppets from Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, vending machines from Asteroid City, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s iconic FENDI fur coat from The Royal Tenenbaums.
To celebrate the exhibition, the Design Museum is offering the opportunity for private hire, inviting corporates to host their own Anderson-inspired events. Echoing the director’s world of symmetry, pastels and peculiar characters, these private viewings can be tailored to each client’s vision, complete with curated props, bespoke decor, and custom catering menus that immerse guests in Anderson’s idiosyncratic storytelling.
The exhibition also traces Anderson’s career from his early work in the 1990s through to his recent Oscar-winning short, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. With storyboards, handwritten notes, and behind-the-scenes material on display, guests will gain insight into the collaborative spirit and fastidious attention to detail that defines his filmography.
Livia Puggini, Head of Commercial Partnerships & Events, comments: “Wes Anderson is a true master when it comes to visual storytelling, and this exhibition really captures his unique style in such a personal and playful way. It’s a fantastic setting for clients who want to create an unforgettable event.”
